Death of John Forster, Esq., Oakville.
Mr. John Forster, for nearly three quarters of a century a resident of Oakville and vicinity, died last Thursday evening at his home in his 79th year. Mr. Forster has been in feeble health for several years, receiving a paralytic stroke a few months ago which almost deprived him of his speech, but it was only ten days ago that his condition became serious and ended in his death. Mr. Forster was born in Brampton, Cumberland, England, and came to Canada with his parents when but nine years old. Mr. Forster was twice married, his first wife being Miss Munger, and the second Miss Eliza Stewart, of Fergus. The following children are living: Mr. Benj. Forster, Mrs. Joseph Williams and Mrs. H. Williams, of Glenwilliams; Mr. John Forster, of Rochester, N.Y.; Mr. Chas. F. Forster, Proton Township; Messrs. F. A. and N. L. Forster, Trafalgar Township, Dr. Forster, Assistant Superintendent of the Kingston Insane Asylum, Miss Agnes, and Mr. A. S. Forster, Editor of the Oakville Star. Mr. Forster has always been a prominent Liberal and an active and consistent member of the Methodist church. He was widely known throughout Halton and Peel. The funeral on Sunday afternoon was largely attended.
