An Aged Saint Called Home.
Never was the release of the spirit from the earthly tenement more joyously anticipated than in the case of Mrs. Adam Dickson, who peacefully passed away on Monday a little before midnight in her eighty-fourth year. She was a happy christian and her religion was a constant topic of conversation. For over a year past Mrs. Dickson had been an invalid and unable to leave her room. She bore her sufferings all uncomplainingly and appreciated very highly the kind ministrations of friends. Last week she was afflicted with a stroke of paralysis from which she never rallied. Mrs. Dickson came to Acton with her husband, the late Adam Dickson, from Toronto, in 1851. They lived here and prospered until Mr. Dickson's death, eleven years ago last August. Mr. and Mrs. Dickson were among the kindest and most respected residents we ever had in town and were identified with every movement calculated to advance the interests of the community whether from a moral or a spiritual standpoint. No children blessed their union. Mrs. Dickson was born near Belfast, Ireland, but in her early days she removed to London, Eng. In 1837 she was a lady's maid in that city and during the great coronation ceremonies of Queen Victoria was an eye witness of many of the events of that auspicious occasion. Her remains will be folowed to the tomb this afternoon at 2 o'clock by many of our citizens who will always revere the memory of this good woman.- Featured Link
