Death of an Esquesing Pioneer.
Mr. George Wrigglesworth, father of Mr. John Wrigglesworth, Reeve of Esquesing, passed quietly away at his home in Guelph on Sunday morning in his eighty-first year. Last October Mr. Wrigglesworth passed the eightieth milestone of his life, and a short description of it was given by the FREE PRESS at the time. On Saturday morning, while getting up to dress, he was suddenly taken sick, and fell on the floor unconscious. Mrs. Wrigglesworth went to his assistance and a physician was sent for, who pronounced the cause of the trouble to be a rupture between the stomach and the bowels. The deceased was conscious to the last. He was a man of considerable prominence in Esquesing and had the honor of being Councillor and finally Reeve of the township for several years. He was married twice. By the first marriage there survive Mrs. Lambert, wife of J. A. Lambert, editor of the Mr. Forest Representative, and Mrs. Tremble, Mt. Forest; Mrs. J. H. Cameron, Mrs. Tremble and Mrs. Pickard, Toronto; Mrs. Parsons, Duluth; John, Reeve of Esquesing; George, Esquesing; Dr. Thomas, and William, Atclair, Minnesota. The step-daughters are Mrs. Crawford, O. A. College, and the Misses Hall, the well known evangelists. The remains were taken to his old home and interred in Ashgrove cemetery. The pall bearers at Guelph were Mayor Hewer, ex-Mayor Lamprey and Messrs. Robert Cunningham, J. McConnell, P. Gould and E. Crawford.
