Last Saturday morning about 9 o'clock Mr. John Henderson, who lived for many years on the town line between Nassagaweya and Pushlinch, near Corwhin was struck by the C.P.R. train due at Guelph at 9.40. and fatally injured. When the engine driver first saw him he was lying on the track, about 8 1/2 miles from the Guelph station, where he had either gone to sleep or had fallen. As the train approached he got partly up and appparently clear of the rails. However, the train was slackened, but was not stopped before the man was struck.
When picked up he was lying in the ditch with his left leg crushed from the knee down and his body bruised in different places. He was taken to Guelph, and after he had been attended to by Dr. Lindsay was removed to the General Hospital where he expired in less than an hour. The deceased was 84 years of age, and leaves a wife, but no children. He seems to have been very unfortunate in regard to accidents, having suffered considerably in one some years ago, when a former wife was killed and he was seriously injured himself, from the effects of which mentally he never recovered entirely. Mr. Henderson was a successful farmer, and was the owner of a farm of 200 acres. He had been away from home all night, and the neighbors were out looking for him when the accident occurred. - Featured Link
