- DEATH OF A MANITOBA VISITOR.
About the middle of March Mr. Isaac Bennett, of Virden, Man., left his home for Ontario with the purpose of buying a car of horses. When the big storm struck the West his train was stalled in the snow drifts west of Fort William, and being exposed to the storm and the cold he took seriously ill. When the roads were opened up he came on to Acton and on the 20th reached the home of his brother, Mr. Thomas Bennett, lot 3, con. 5, Erin. For ten days he endured great suffering and he died last Sunday. His illness was much aggravated by a wound he sustained when a boy, while playing cricket. This wound never healed and for over sixty years had troubled him. Mrs. Bennett and her son Mr. Robert Bennett and Mrs. Isaac Bennett, daughter-in-law, arrived here on Monday morning from Virden. The funeral will be held to-morrow at two o'clock from the home of Mr. Thomas Bennett, and at 6:19 the remains will leave Acton for Manitoba. Mr. Bennett was born on the farm where he died. He lived a number of years at Sebringville, near Stratford, and some twenty years ago removed with his family to Virden, Man. Mrs. Bennett, five sons and one daughter survive him. He was a member of the Methodist Church and one of his sons, Rev. M. M. Bennett, B.A., is pastor of the Methodist Church at Indian Head, N.W.T. - Featured Link
