- Death of Geo. Hynds, Sr.
Councillor George Hynds has just suffered a second bereavement within a space of four months. In December death claimed his sister Ella, and on Tuesday of last week his father died at the family residence, 230 Simcoe St., Toronto, after a long illness. Mr. Hynds was a native of Armagh, Ireland, where he was born in 1827. When 18 years of age he came to Canada and settled in Hamilton, where he lived for four years. Then he went to Guelph, where he resided seventeen years, and subsequently he lived in Acton for ten years. In 1878 he went to Toronto, engaging in business as a tanner, and was a resident of Toronto up to the time of his death. His wife died three years ago. Three daughters and one son, Councillor Hynds, of Acton, survive. Mr. Hynds was a highly esteemed resident of Acton, during his residence here, and enjoyed the esteem of our citizens. The funeral took place last Thursday at Toronto. - Featured Link
