Death of an Esteemed Resident.
One of our esteemed early settlers, Mr. Martin Flynn, died on Tuesday after an illness of about a year. Until a year ago Mr. Flynn was a strong, hearty and vigorous man, but he became afflicted with spinal trouble and for several months has been almost entirely invalided, and death came on Tuesday afternoon as a relief from the pain and weakness from which he had so long suffered. Mr. Flynn was a native of the County Roscommon, town of Castlerea, Ireland. He came to Canada nearly fifty years ago, landing on the 12th July, 1855. Ever since then his home has been in Halton, and nearly the entire time in Esquesing. He was for 18 years head sawyer at the Smith saw mills, where he was a most faithful and skilful employee. With his family Mr. Flynn came to Acton eleven years ago and settled upon the well-known Hugh Mann farm, the birthplace of D. D. Mann, the railway magnate, which he had purchased. Forty-one years ago he was united in holy wedlock with Lucy Mulholland, and together the years have been very happily spent. Five sons and two daughters blessed the union. Mrs. Flynn and the following survive: Mary at home, Kate at Berlin, John at Waterloo, Michael at Detroit, Joseph and James at home. He was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning, leaving the home at 9.30 o'clock for St. Joseph's Church, where a service will be held. Interment will take place at Dublin Cemetery.
