- Death of Mrs. Graham McDonald.
A highly-esteemed resident of this vicinity quietly passed away on Sunday afternoon, the relict of the late Graham McDonald, Nassagaweya, in her eighty-sixth year. Mrs. McDonald held no ailment. The sands of life very gradually ran out, and though perceptibly weakening for several weeks, she had little suffering, and calmly said adieu to the things of earth. Margaret Warren was the daughter of James Warren, of the Parish of Inch, Invernesshire, where she first saw the light of day in the year 1818. At the age of twenty-five she married her late husband, Graham McDonald, and for thirteen years they continued to reside in Inverness. Five of their six children were born there. In 1856 the family came to Canada; spent a couple of years in Erin and then removed to Esquesing to the farm at present owned by Mr. William Sprowl on the third line. Thirty-five years ago they settled on the homestead in Nassagaweya, lot 24, con. 7, where both heads of the family passed away. Four children survive - Mrs. Robert Wallace, and Mr. Peter McDonald, Acton, James on the homestead, and Alexander on an adjoining farm in Nassagaweya. The late Dr. W. H. McDonald, of Toronto, who was one of Acton's most brilliant students, and who died very suddenly in 1885, was a son. Mrs. McDonald is the last of her father's family. A brother died in Lambton County two years ago aged 90 years. Her husband predeceased her six years ago. Mrs. McDonald was a woman of superior parts, and was beloved by all. The remains were interred in Fairview Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, Rev. J. C. Wilson, B.A., officiating. - Media Type
