- A Victim of Alcohol Poisoning.
Shortly before noon on Monday, Dennis Sullivan, an hostler, who has been working about J. W. Kee's livery stable for a couple of months, died from the effects of drinking wood alcohol. He procured the alcohol at A. T. Brown's drug store on Sunday, stating that he wanted it for use in treating horses' legs. It seems, however, that he drank the poisonous wood alcohol and died on Monday about noon. He was addicted to liquor, and is reported to have been on a spree for several weeks. Not much is known of the poor fellow here. He came from Galt, and was for a number of years employed in Seagram's racing stables at Waterloo as assistant trainer. He has a brother in British Columbia. Coroner Macdonald empanelled the following jury in the afternoon: H. P. Moore, foreman, Reeve Swackhamer, A. A. Secord, D. M. Henderson, R.R. Scott, Geo. Soper, John Agnew, John Kenny, Jr., A. J. Mackinnon, W. J. Gould, Wm. Cooper, and W. P. Matthews. The jury viewed the remains, and then adjourned until a time to be arranged by the Coroner and Crown Attorney. Deceased was about sixty years of age. - Later the Crown Attorney deemed an inquest unnecessary, and the body was taken in charge yesterday by friends from Galt. - Media Type
