A highly esteemed young man from one of our best families, in the person of Albert Black, youngest son of Mr. Hugh Black, postmaster of Rockwood, died suddenly on Sunday at the old homestead, Eramosa. Mr. Black was well enough on Saturday evening to drive a lady friend, Miss Ethel Wardell, of Guelph, in the station to enable her to take the train to Acton.
The deceased was 27 years of age. He studied for qualification as school teacher, at the Georgetown High School and Guelph Colegiate Institute, after which he obtained a second-class certificate, taught for a couple of years, and then took a position in the Traders' Bank, Guelph, for three years, went to Beeton and Tottenham in connection with that bank, and then to Winnipeg as an accountant for the Union Bank. He was offered and accepted the position of manager of the new branch of the Traders' Bank in Rockwood when it was opened a couple of years ago, which position he held until last fall, when failing health caused him to retire. A cold caught a year ago resulted in death.
The family is one of the best known in the county, the father being clerk of the township of Eramosa for many years, Secretary of the Mutual Insurance Company of the township, and holding other local positions of trust. - Media Type
