- Death of David Plewes.
The death occured in Brantford on Sunday morning of David Plewes, the well known grain merchant, of the Board of Trade Building, Toronto. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. L. Hughes, when he was visiting. The deceased had resided in Toronto for fifteen years, and was at one time the owner of large flour mills in Brantford. He was known throughout the Domninion on account of his connection with milling and grain interests. For a time he was the representative of the Canadian Milling Association in the Old Country. He was about seventy-five years of age and left a grown-up family. Fifty years ago, when a young man, Mr. Plewes came to Acton, and was for some time engaged as a miller in the mill now operated by J. R. Moshier. On the 17th September, 1875 - thirty years ago - he laid the corner stone of the Methodist Church. On the 1st of July, 1901, he preached one of the silver anniversary sermons and spent several days here renewing acquaintances of early years. Mr. Plewes was a man of sterling character and Christian usefulness. - Media Type
