Sudden Death of Mrs. Wm. McDonald
Mrs. William McDonald died very suddenly early Monday morning at the family residence on the fourth line, Esquesing. Mrs. McDonald had been troubled with rheumatism for a month or so, and was not feeling well on Sunday. About eleven o'clock Sunday night she complained that her feet were very cold, and Mr. McDonald got up and provided additional coverings. A couple of hours later her heart's action ceased and the spirit took its flight. Mrs. McDonald was the daughter of the late John Gordon, Sr., of Gordon Hall, and was born on the farm now owned by Mr. A. G. Clarridge, dairyman, in July, 1857. She was united in wedlock to her bereaved husband on Dec. 28th, 1881, and the new home was established within two lots of her birth-place. Six childrlen blessed the home. They are Evan, Alberta, Maggie, Pearl, Willie and Wilfrid: all of whom are at home except Miss Alberta, who is teacher of School No. 8, Nelson, and left for her duties on Saturday, after spending the summer holidays at home. Mrs. McDonald was in many respects a superior woman. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, Ballinafad; was much interested in the Woman's Institute, and was a good neighbor and warm friend to all who came within her circle. But it was as wife and mother that she most excelled. Her home was a very happy one, and there she presided with the love and affection which ensured ideal home life. The community sympathizes deeply with the sorrowing husband and family. The funeral in Fairview Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon was largely attended, and Revs. G. Milne and J. C. Wilson conducted the services.
