Death of a Former Resident.
Last Thursday morning the sands of time very quietly run out and Thomas Craine's long and active life was ended. Mr. Craine has been living for some time at the home of his son, the late Robert Craine, 103 Gladstone Avenue, Toronto. Until a couple of months ago he was able to be about, but he gradually grew weaker until death peacefully came. Mr. Craine was born in the Isle of Man in 1822, and came to Canada when a child, settling with his parents in the city of Quebec. Later he removed to Glenwilliams and thirty-three years ago came to Acton. He conducted a boot and shoe business in partnership with his son, the late Robert Craine, in the building now occupied by T. A. Morton as a barber shop. He was here, for twelve or fourteen years when he removed to Tarbert, where a daughter resides. His wife died July 8th, 1861. There were six children in the family, three of whom survive. One of these is Mrs. May Masalas, of Cleveland, for many years a resident of Acton. The remains were brought to Acton on Saturday afternoon and interred in the family plot in Fairview Cemetery, after service conducted in St. Alban's Church by Rev. Mr. Wilson, M.A. Messrs. James McLam, W. Williams, I. Francis, A. E. Nicklin, W. R. Kenney and H. P. Moore were the pall bearers.
