- Death of Moses Ballantine, Jr.
As a direct result of injuries received while at work on Saturday, the 3rd March, Moses Ballintine, second son of Moses Ballintine, of 432 Ontario Street, London, and formerly of Acton, died on Thursday morning, 8th inst. The young man, who was twenty years of age, operated a saw at the Globe Casket Works, London, and had been employed there for about a year. He was sawing a board with the saw running at rapid speed when the piece was thrown from the machine and struck him in the abdomen. He was taken home and it was thought for a time that no serious injury was received. He seemed to be recovering but acute inflammation of the covering of the bowels set in, and he died in a few days. Since their removal from Acton to London, a few years ago, the young fellow grew very popular in the east end where they reside. The many floral tributes which covered the casket testified this. The funeral was conducted by the Canadian Foresters, of which deceased was a member, the Rev. Bro. Lowe, of St. Matthias Church, being in charge. The sympathy of their friends here is extended to the family. - Media Type
