William King Killed in His Sawmill
at Arkell on Saturday Evening.
William H. King, owner of the Arkell saw mill, met a horrible death on Saturday evening. He was at work in the mill about five o'clock and was operating a big buzz saw. A large piece of board caught in the saw and was thrown back with terrific force, striking Mr. King just above the left eye, and tearing his scalp almost completely off. The front of the head was also badly crushed. The board flew fully one hundred feet after striking the unfortunate man. Assistance was immediately at hand and a messenger despatched to Guelph for doctors. In the meantime every care possible was shown the injured man. One of the doctors reached the mill shortly after six o'clock and King was removed to his home a short distance away, but lived only a short time.
Deceased was 31 years of age and a native of Guelph. He leaves a widow and small child.
The funeral took place Monday afternoon to Farnham cemetery, and was largely attended. Service was conducted in the Arkell Anglican Church by Rev. G. F. Davidson, of St. George's. - Media Type
