A very sudden death of one of our earliest settlers occurred on Saturday afternoon when Mr. William Stovel dropped dead after a few minutes' illness. Although the old gentleman had reached his eightieth year he was in very good health. On Friday he went over to his daughter's home and spent the day on the farm. Saturday he was about home, had dinner and was feeling as well as usual. About 4.30 he complained of severe pains. The doctor was called in and examined him but found no serious trouble. Two minutes after he had left the house the old gentleman's heart ceased beating and he fell dead. Mr. Stovel came to Rockwood over sixty years ago. He was twice married. By the first wife three sons and five daughters survive, and by the second, who is still living, two sons and two daughters. The remains were interred in the Stone Church Cemetery on Monday. - Media Type
