Death of Bailiff Broddy, Erin.
The death occurred last Wednesday of one of Erin's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens, Mr. James Broddy. The deceased gentleman had completed the allotted span of life, three score years and ten. He had been in failing health for some time and the end came peacefully. Mr. Broddy was one of the oldest bailiffs in the province, having been connected in that capacity to the Fifth Division Court of the County of Wellington for fifty years. He was appointed regime in 1855. As a citizen Mr. Broddy was highly respected. In religion he was a Methodist and for years a class leader in the Erin church. In politics he was a staunch Conservative. A family of two sons and three daughters survive, as follows: William, a merchant, at Uxbridge; James, Toronto; Mrs. H. Stephenson, Erin; Mr.[Mrs?] Symons, Detroit; Miss Maud, at home. Sheriff Broddy, of Brampton, is a brother, and Mrs. Hunter, of Toronto, a sister.
