DEATH OF REV. ALLAN SALT
Aged Indian Missionary, For Many
Years at Parry Sound
Parry Sound, Jan. 30. - The Rev. Allan Salt died on Sunday night at the age of ninety-three years. He was a full-blooded Indian of the Ojibway tribe, born at Mississauga in 1818. He was adopted and educated by Rev. William Case, "father of Methodist Indian missions," and graduated from the Toronto Normal School in 1848. He entered the ministry of the Methodist Church in 1853, and for 48 years continued in active work, serving in many missions in Ontario and for a term in the Northwest Territories. He was the missionary for many years at Parry Island, where he settled when superannuated in 1901.
