BENJAMIN McBAIN
Death came somewhat suddenly on Sunday morning to Benjamin McBain, of lot 5, con. 2, Erin. Mr.McBain had been suffering from a severe cold for several weeks. On the Monday morning before his death while walking across the yard he slipped on the ice and sustained a severe shaking up from which he never recovered. Mr. McBain was an esteemed resident of acton and Erin for sixty-six years. His birthplace was at Badenoch, Inverness shire Scotland, and he had attained his eighty-second year. When a lad of twelve he came to Canada with his father, the late Paul McBain. The family settled in Acton - then but a hamlet and known as Adamsville - and resided here for several years. They then moved to the homestead where both his parents and himself died. Mr. McBain was a bachelor. From his boyhood days he attended Knox Church, Acton, and until the infirmities of age crept upon him, was a very regular attendant. The remains were brought to Acton to the home of Mr. George McBain, brother of the deceased, from whence the funeral was held yesterday afternoon to Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Mr. Wilson conducted the funeral service. - Featured Link
