OBITUARY
MRS. PETER GIBBONS, SR.
After several years of ill-health Mrs. Peter Gibbons passed peacefully away on Saturday evening, 7th June. Mrs. Gibbons was the daughter of the late Michael Carty, was born in Esquesing sixty-five years ago, and has lived in the vicinity of her birthplace ever since. In February, 1867, she was married to her sorrowing husband, who but a short time previously had returned from serving with the forces of the South in the American Civil War. They resided for twenty years on the first line near the Dublin Church, and twenty-six years ago removed to their present residence, near Speyside. Ten children were born to them, of whom the following survive; Thomas, Peter and Charles, at Oxbow, Sask.; Michael, at Fort George, B.C.; John, at Speyside; Mrs. John Dunn, Acton; Mrs. Edward Synott, Eramosa; James and Irene, at home. Mr. David Carty and Mrs. John J. Holland, Hamilton, are brother and sister of deceased. Mrs. Gibbons was a true home maker, an esteemed neighbor and a kind hearted friend to all. The funeral in St. Joseph's Church on Tuesday morning was largely attended.
