12 THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2006 Ducks swim to medals at Cindy Nicholas pool Acton Aqua Ducks Red group turned in a great performance at the Cin- dy Nicholas Swim Meet in Scarborough on the weekend. Coach Gerry Ockenden reports this was the first year they had to cut back on pool rental over Christmas. The swimmers were out of the water for a full two weeks, a long break for the kids not to train, Ockenden said. How- ever, there are two good reasons to keep swimming. I really enjoy coaching these kids, one they are from Acton, and two they never stop surprising me with how deep they can dig down to get their maximum effort no matter what pops up in their way. All the kids in the club are very proud of their town and the town should always be very proud of them, Ockenden says.
