THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2006 THE NEW TANNER 19 The Halton District School Board will hold a second series of public meetings to review the proposed Capital Plan. The Plan is a long-term strategy addressing the accommodation needs of students in Haltons elementary and secondary schools. The Board held initial public meetings in February in each municipality to seek public input and comments on the proposed Plan. Since those meetings, the public has had the opportunity to submit written comments (until March 9, 2006). The comments have been reviewed by Halton District School Board staff and trustees. An interim report was presented to the trustees of the Halton District School Board at the Accommodation Committee meeting on April 12, 2006. This interim report will be presented to the public at meetings throughout Halton. This will provide an opportunity to explain modifications to the proposed Capital Plan and to seek feedback. For the Halton Hills community the public meeting will take place: Thursday, April 20, 2006 7-9 p.m. Georgetown District High School (Cafeteria) 70 Guelph Street, Georgetown After this second public meeting, the community will again have the opportunity to give written comments. Comments will be received until May 18, 2006. It is anticipated a final report will be presented to the Board in June 2006. Twitchell@halton.ca. ????? ???????? ???????????????? ???????? ?????? Tonight is the Easter din- ner, and judging from all the activity at the Centre this past week, I am sure it will be a great event. Dont forget the Centre will be closed on Good Fri- day and Easter Monday. Maureen Smith and Heinz Rusche, members of the Bruce Trail Association made a very interesting pre- sentation. I am sure people who havent experienced walking the trails will do so in the near future. We are so lucky that many dedicated people keep the trails well marked and in top notch condition, making sure any repairs to bridges and walks are done promptly, and any fallen trees and limbs removed. The next evening euchre is April 19 at 7:15p.m. It is always a great evening. Now we are on daylight savings time, nights are lighter. Dave tells me The Drag- on Dart team overwhelmed the point deficient Knights at Monday mornings game. Even though the Knights tried hard, they couldnt stand the pace. As you can tell they are desperate for more dart players, expert or not, especially as the weather is getting better and some players will abandon ship and be on the golf course on suitable days. Ruth Burke was the only Mooner this week at the Thursday afternoon eu- chre. Mark Saturday, May 27 on your calendar when we will be holding the fund raising walkathon for the Centre. How can you help? Either by walking, volunteering to hand out water, snacks etc.,(to keep participants energized), or most impor- tant of all you can sponsor someone. Pledge sheets are at the Centre. Walkathon participants will have their own pledge sheets. There will be two different routes. One in the park, which is fairly flat and smooth, and one more vigorous, and both should take about one hour. Some of the Acton Se- niors Hiking Club will be participating in the hike on the Saturday and also walk- ing around Guelph Lake the next day in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Founda- tion Walkathon. Margaret Neilson tells me Betty Blains Black team managed to beat Gerry Marjerrisons Brown team 19-13. Now Bettys back the Black team hope to start winning again. The carpet bowlers welcome Betty back from Panama City Beach. The Hearing Clinic on Tuesday, April 25 at 1:30p. m. should be very interest- ing to anyone who has a hearing loss problem, or is related to someone who has. Even if your hearing is per- fect, it will be interesting to find out what your options are, as our hearing starts to deteriorate. There will be two representatives from Harold K. Arnold Hearing Aids Limited here to discuss the different tools available to help make life as nor- mal as possible for anyone with a hearing problem. Everyone is invited to this presentation. There are still a lot of newsletters at the front desk. Ask for help if you cant find yours. It will keep you updated on activities at the Centre for May and June. If you notice a neighbours is still there perhaps you could drop it in their mail box, or even pop in for a visit. There is a trip planned to Blue Heron Casino on Wednesday, May 3. Not only will you be able to spend three hours at the casino but the price also includes the buffet lunch which is reputed to be the best meal at any casino. They will also be stop- ping at the Ocala Winery and White Feather Country Craft Store. Sounds like a great deal. If you are inter- ested check it out with the travel desk on Monday or Friday mornings The two Baskets of the Season were drawn at the pot luck lunch on Friday, April 7, and unbelievable as it seems, out of over 300 tickets, Della Walshs name was drawn twice (by two different people). Both baskets were beautiful, and I know she will enjoy ev- erything in them. It certainly was her lucky day!
