Now students, summer sports associations and the MSB neighbouring com- munity have no playground equipment to express themselves as children. Equipment that encourages physical activity, fair play and helps to break the ice when creating new friend- ships. The old play equipment was deemed offi cially un- safe this year and its remains were finally disposed of this spring. The exorbitant cost of new play equip- ment to replace, at todays safety standards, including proper drainage amounts to a huge undertaking, of which a handful of par- ent council volunteers feel overwhelmed, but ready to take on the challenge! With the power of the press and the history of this generous community, I am appealing for immediate help today in the form of cash donations, Canadian Tire money, or unique fund- raising suggestions. This project is urgently needed and support will be greatly appreciated by all children living and visit- ing our community. Please help bring back the smiling faces of the many children that enjoyed this former play area. What an even better place Acton would then be!! Please forward donations to: McKenzie Smith Bennett P.S., c/o Playground Fund, 69 Acton Blvd, Acton, On- tario, L7J 2X7. A concerned MSB parent. Mold-Masters has shelved its plans for a new head- quarters and state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at the 401and Trafalgar Road for one to two years, citing higher than anticipated con- struction related costs, and changes in the competitive environment buoyed by a strong Canadian dollar. Mold-Masters, George- towns largest industrial employer, will re-confi gure its Georgetown facilities and in a press release Presi- dent Jonathan Fischer said they regret delaying this project, and design work on the new location would continue while the existing Georgetown operations are not affected. Mold-Masters delays plans for plant in 401 corridor Fund will help put new playground back at McKenzie-Smith Bennett Derelict old playground FIGURE SKATE AWARDS: Several Acton and area skaters were among the skaters who re- ceived awards at the annual awards banquet of the Georgetown Figure Skating Club. Maggie Kleinsasser said the filming was fun and interesting, and the fi nished segment is an accurate pic- ture of a growing number of young people, particularly young women, who want to work on the land. She also said the segment underscores a growing rec- ognition that local, not just organic, is good. All the travelling that vegetables are doing these days all of the energy costs, all of the fuel that has been used to truck it - and the vegetables arent even fresh when they get here. People are becoming aware that they have to have contact with the farm and then it becomes one big family, Kleinsasser said on Saturday, adding theyve watched the segment numer- ous times on DVD and have told their friends that it will air on CBC on June 11.
