I hope many of you managed to get to either the Acton Seniors Centre or the Gellert Centre for some of the activities. Friday you can take advantage of swim- ming in the beautiful Gellert pool from 1p.m.- 2p.m. What a great way to finish the week, especially if it is a hot day. I was babysit- ting my two grandsons last weekend, and took them to the pool, and they just loved it! S.A.L.T. are having a Power of Attorney presen- tation by Constable Borak on Wednesday, June 28 at 10a.m. at the Georgetown Seniors Centre. Now is the opportunity to find out ex- actly why everyone should have one of these important documents completed, as well as your will. There were no mooners at bid euchre this week. The two cribbage teams that represented us at the Halton District Seniors crib- bage games did very well. Mary Walsma and Gerry Kroezen took fourth place, and Lloyd Broostad and Norma Titus placed eighth. Congratulations! The Birthday Tea cele- brating birthdays in June and July will be held on Tuesday, June 27 at 2p.m. If your birthday falls in these two months you should get a call from the phone committee, but if you dont please take this as your invitation. Some o f t h e boa r d members including Dave Dodgson, Victor Bissonnette, and Margaret Anderson took time to visit three seniors centres in Oshawa, and came back with some great ideas. All three were different; one was a multi-purpose sports and recreation centre and incorporated a library, ice rinks, and a swimming pool complex. Another was used by seniors during the day until 3p.m., then school children enjoyed the facil- ity after 3p.m. Later in the evening it was used by both seniors and the public. This seemed a great way to utilize the facilities. Betty is quite excited about a trip planned to Port Hope on Thursday, July 13. Not only will you have a tour of the town with a step-on guide pointing out all the interesting places, but lunch and a show at the 75 year old Capital Theatre is also on the agenda. Dont forget, the Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9a.m. until 4p.m. There is always lunch served on Friday; you just have to sign up by the Wednesday before so kitchen conveners know how much food to prepare. Its always nice and cool here, so if the heat is getting to you, pop in and cool off.
