Robert Little wins national award Actons Robert Little Public School has won a Na- tional Award in recognition for their Quality Physical Education program. The Canadian Associa- tion for Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD) has acknowledged that Robert Little Public School, its teachers, and students are excellent role models for all other Canadian schools, by awarding them with the National Diamond Recogni- tion Award. Robert Lit t le Public School is leading the ad- vocacy initiative for the physical education of all Canadian children. Re- search from leading national and international health and physical education associa- tions and experts confirms that our children need a quality physical education program in order to enjoy healthy, active and produc- tive lives. UNESCO goes as far as saying that quality physical education is a basic right of every child. Over the last decade or more, there has been a significant decline in the quality and quantity of school physical education being offered to children. Christ the King Catho- lic Secondary School has been approved for a twelve (12) classroom addition; construction will begin in September 2006 and is ex- pected to be completed by September 2007. The recently released results of the Ontario Sec- ondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) indicated a 92% success rate for first-time writers of the OSSLT across the secondary schools in our Board. Christ the King Catholic Secondary School scored an 88% success rate, comparing favourably to the provincial average of 84%. Thank you all for a great year.
