As proud parents, coaches and teachers watched from the gallery and jockeyed for good pictures, Mayor Rick Bon- nette invited the recipients to the front of the chambers to receive a medallion and certificate from the Town as details of their particular achievement was read. The awardees from Acton High School include the top male and female athletes, and two students with Silver and Bronze medal-winning computer skills. Mike Kosziwka looked a little uncomfortable without his Badminton partner, Me- lissa Bigg, there to receive her award Bigg was at a soccer tryout and unable to attend the ceremony. The pair earned a Gold medal in mixed doubles at the 2006 Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association (OFSAA) finals in Timmins, winning all five matches, including a two-goal sweep of the final. Acton High School tech- nical skills team member Angela Henderson earned a Silver medal in Architectural CADD (computer-aided de- sign and drafting) at the 2006 Canadian Skills Competition in Halifax last month. She earned a berth at the national competition with a Gold medal wins at the pro- vincial, regional and school levels.
