So we try to keep it to two face painters, a certain number of food vendors per block and that sort of thing, Bon- nette said. Some of the great food will be offered up on patios that will be operated for the day by Andys Restaurant, Starlight Cafnd Mill Street Crossing which is bringing in two bands. Also Jenny the hotdog lady will be in attendance along with the popular Chow Down people and Andrews Scenic Acres will be serving fresh corn. The days entertainment will take place on the street and at two stages the main stage will be at Elgin Street this year and there will be a kids stage at the Alexanians parking lot. Festivities kickoff with O Canada and a cake at 11 a.m., The Acton Citizens Band plays at noon and in the early afternoon, the finalists for the Acton Idol contest will try to impress the judges to take home the title. One of the judges is Ac- tons Jeff McEnery now on the Yuk Yuks comedy circuit who will also en- tertain the crowd with his award winning humour. Country recording artist Alysha Brooks will also take the stage, along with the Robert Little Every- body Dance troupe. Bonnette said the Festival committee had no trouble selecting Actons Emily Loewen, 11, as this years Festival Ambassador. Hands down, she was the winner, her letter was so cute, Bonnette said, add- ing shes confident Loewen will be perfect for the job of spreading the word about the Festival. There were 10 entries in the Leathertown Ambas- sador contest this year all from girls up from seven the inaugural year, and Bonnette said shed like to see the Ambassadors duties expanded to include a presence at more down- town BIA events. Bonnette said the Fes- tival committee a group of eight to 10 volunteers begins planning for the event in February with monthly meetings which become weekly planning sessions in June.
