Frances Niblock photo POLICE/FIRE REPORT Vacant house fire Acton firefighters had to use chainsaws to cut through overgrown trees to get to a fire in an abandoned house on Highway 25, south of 22 Side Road, that was called in at 5:30 on Saturday morning by a patrolling Halton police officer. Once they cleared the driveway, firefighters quick- ly extinguished the fire, which is still under inves- tigation. Bad burn Acton firefighters found a homeowner burning un-au- thorized material when they responded to a call about black smoke in the Highway 7- Sixth Line area at 2:07 on Friday afternoon. The resident was in- formed of the Open Air Burn permit requirements and the contained fire was extinguished. False alarm A Beardmore Crescent resident was advised to have their homes alarm system inspected after a false alarm at 8:47 p.m. on Labour Day.
