During the weekend of October 20 - 22, the Acton Galvcast Peewee BB Tanners were invited to participate in their first tournament of the year, the Dan Bell Memorial Tournament in Bracebridge. The first game on Fri- day night proved to be the Tanners strongest start of their round robin as they walked away with a 9-4 vic- tory over the Paris Wolfpack. Goals came courtesy of Tyler Christopher, Josh Tremblay, Mitchell Brake (4), Greg Wells (2) and Jeff Curry. Set- ting up this barrage of rubber was Jeff Curry (2), Adam Duval (2), Wyatt Martin (2), Ryan Dunlevy, Josh Martin, and Greg Wells. Game number two saw the tide turn as the Tanners went toe to toe with the Barrie Colts. Unfortunately a win was not in the cards for the Tanners who succumbed to the Colts 4-1. The lone Acton goal came via Evan Oulton, ensuring that the Barrie goal- tender would not go home with a shutout. The third and final game of their divisional round robin saw the Tanners face the Port Carling Thunder. Once again the Tanners put forth the required effort to squeeze a 3-2 win over the Thunder. Tanner goals were provided by Mitchell Brake (2) and Josh Tremblay and were as- sisted by Tyler Christopher and Josh Tremblay. The Tanners 2-1 record in the round-robin advanced them into the semi-finals Sunday morning where the team went face-to-face with Collingwood, a team which it turned out was as adamant as the Tanners of going home with a win in the semis. A few lucky breaks for Collin- gwood, including an open netter, sealed the Tanners fate in a 3-0 loss. Sharing the duties between the pipes for Acton during the tourney was Mitchell Christopher and Greg Slowka who between them, stopped an array of shots which in most cases would be ruffling the mesh in any other net. Other offensive teammates assisting in their teams suc- cess were Nick Vandereyken and Michael Evans in com- bination with the remaining defensive team of Gavin Ragan, TJ Baker, Jake MacPherson and Matt Fritz. Actons Bantam BB Home Hardware Tan- ners racked up two wins, a tie and lost one in their last four games. The Tanners only loss was a 3-2 decision to Georgetown on their bailiwick, the tie a 5-5 knot in Flamborough. The wins were a convincing 8-0 victory over Orangeville there and a 9-6 triumph over Erin in Acton. Netminder Joe Drexler kept the Tanners in the game against Georgetown with some fantastic saves while his teammates piled up a record number of penalties which cost them the game as well as a two game suspen- sion for one player and a one game stay for coach Campbell. Brandon McCarthy potted both Acton goals with assists going to Matt Katasienski and Ryan Faber. Adam Amato bagged a hat trick in the tie with Flamborough on their ice with one goal unassisted and assists from Steve Wol- stenholme, Nathan Bennett and Matt Allain. Angelo Colavecchia sniped a single with help from Jake Lewis while Dayne Black and Amatto assisted Kutasienski on his goal. Again the team got sharp goal tending, this time from Andrew Cheeseman. Goalkeeper Joe Drexler registered a shut out for Acton as the Tanners overwhelmed Orangeville 8-0 on their ice. Steve Wol- stenholme, Adam Amatto and Nick Eagan scored two goals apiece for the Tanners while Dayne Black and Ryan Faber notched one each. Amatto also collected two assists as did Jesse Spurrell while Eagan, Black and Nathan Bennett had one each. Monday night in the Acton arena the Tanners, backed by stellar netminding from Andrew Cheeseman, and four goals from Nick Eagan, took a 9-6 win over the Erin Devils. Matt Allain (2), Angelo Colavecchia (2) and Adam Amatto each collected two assist on Eagans goals. Amatto was busy scoring two goals of his own, one unassisted, the other with help from Allain. Jamie Campbells hard work paid off for him as he also scored with help from Dayne Black. Stellar goal tending helps Bantams win 2, tie, lose Peewees in semi-finals at Bracebridge Late sports news will be published next week. House League Hockey
