Somerville Paula Stevens, Aquatic Coordinator with the Town of Halton Hills, has been awarded the Lifesaving Societys Bar to Service Medal for her volunteer work in drowning pre- vention and lifesaving education. Paula is an Examiner and Instructor Trainer in the Societys Swim, Lifesav- ing, First Aid and Lifeguard training programs. She is an Instructor of the Societys Aquatic Supervisor award and holds the Aquatic Safe- ty Inspector certification. She has over 12 years of leadership on a variety of the Societys commit- tees. She has volunteered to chair committees with formidable development tasks. This was true of First Aid Services that complete- ly overhauled the Societys first aid awards; and true of the Swim Program com- mittee that developed and launched the Societys new learn to swim program. Her enthusiasm for new challenges serves the So- ciety well. Today, she is Paula Stevens gets Lifesaving award helping to build lifesaving sport as Chair of Long-Term Athlete Development.
