Oakville put two notches up on the home scoreboard early in the first to give them the early lead and they never looked back. Not to have the Rangers walk over them, a late first period goal courtesy of Actons Adam Duval set up by Ryan Dunlevy put the Tanners back into the game. Acton evened up the score late in the second period on a Greg Wells wrist shot, after receiving the puck from Tyler Christopher. The Rang- ers were to score seconds later to put them once again one up on the Tan- ners and a final Ranger goal early in the third period was to secure their victory. Mitchell Christopher and Greg Slowka shared time between the uprights in an attempt to fend off the advancing Rangers. Final score Oakville 4 Acton 2. Storm tossed On December 5, the Peewee Tanners hosted the Guelph Storm. Coming off a rough loss the previous day this was to be the game which would bolster the teams spirit providing them with a much needed win and it did. First period action saw both teams evenly matched with both ends of the ice seeing its fair share of play. The second period was to be all Acton, with Adam Duval, unassisted carve his way up the ice and fire off the rubber bullet deep into Storm mesh to give the Tanners one-up. Shortly after Matt Fritz, on a well- placed pass from Jeff Curry, was able to slide the puck between the post and skate of the Storm netminder to give Acton a two-goal edge. Early in the third period Guelph managed to slide one through the Acton blue to close the gap but that was all the wind that the Storm would muster for this game as the Tanners sank two further goals into the Storm mesh before games end. The third notch came courtesy of a Greg Wells snapshot deep into the top corner of the Guelph net on precise passes from Mitchell Brake and Ryan Dunlevy. Actons game ending goal coming via Mitchell Brake who on exact passes from Ryan Dunlevy and Greg Wells flipped the rubber past the sprawling Storm goalie. Greg Slowka, between the pipes for the Tanners, solidified the win with his glove and stick work. Final Score: Acton 4 Guelph 1. Revenge on Rangers On December 7, the Peewee BB Tanners travelled to Oakville to face the Rangers who had two days earlier beat the team both on the ice and on the scoreboard. Fresh off the previous nights game winning high, the Tan- ners were ready to hit the ice and play hockey and win this one 5-3. Both teams came out hard and fast through the first period with the league leader Rangers managing to take a two goal lead before the Tan- ners connected in the second and put the first notch on the scoreboard via Greg Wells. He easily beat the Ranger netminder ruffling the netting on well executed passes from Ryan Dunlevy and Josh Tremblay, who tonight in some way would play an integral part in all of Actons goals. The even-up marker came courtesy of Josh Tremblay who snapped the rubber deep into the Ranger net on precise passes from Mitchaell Brake and Gavin Ragan. Goal number three was set up by Ryan Dunlevy and Josh Tremblay who placed the puck onto the stick of Adam Duval. He fired the frozen rub- ber through the Storm bulls-eye. The stick handling wizardry of Tyler Christopher and Ryan Dunlevy, who in sequence fed the puck to Josh Tremblay facilitating a deep top shelf shot easily beating the glove hand of the Oakville net minder, finished off the second stanza. After being disgraced in the second period, the Rangers turned up the heat in the third but Acton polished of the game with a final goal/hat trick for Josh Tremblay with passes from Tyler Christopher and Ryan Dunlevy. The saving grace of the third period was the amazing glove hand of Tanner net minder Greg Slowka who much to the amazement of cheering team supporters, pocketed an array of op- posing blasts of rubber deep into the weave of his glove hand. Final score: Acton 5 Oakville 3. Peewee Tanners polish off Guelph, Oakville Lose one game More Sports Page 31 Novices nudged... Continued from page 27 an unassisted goal. Actons final notch on the scoreboard came courtesy of the teams offensive/defenceman Liam OConnell who after receiv- ing a precise pass onto the blade of his stick managed to ruffle the mesh with a well placed wrist shot. Patrick Conlin guarded Actons blue with his glove and stick work securing the win for the Tanners. Final score: Acton 4 Woolwich 2.
