Frances Niblock photo Sheridan College and Lit- eracy North Halton (LNH) are partnering to bring a new upgrading program to Georgetown called ACE, an academic upgrading pro- gram in Math and English. The program allows participants to get accredi- tation in English and Math, which will go towards a high school equivalency credit, accepted at Sheridan College for both academic programming and appren- ticeships. Participants can attend on a part time basis, two nights per week, in each subject. Those with a goal of at- tending Sheridan College Academic programs or who wish to achieve required math skills to go towards apprenticeship eligibility, will be able to access this program. It is a great opportu- nity for people who do not have transport to Sheridan Campus, or are available only in the evening says Janet Gambrell, Associate Dean of Sheridan College. We welcome the partner- ship with Literacy North Halton, who have been working really well to ad- dress community needs in Georgetown. This program gives people an opportu- nity to avail of Sheridan academic and apprentice- ship program, by attending these part time programs Literacy North Halton will continue to provide programming for adults who wish to upgrade their literacy skills with reading, writing, math and basic computers. The Read Spell Write program could be a perfect stepping stone for adults who wish to upgrade and attend academic pro- gramming at Sheridan, but who do not have the neces- sary skills to attend ACE programming at this time. LNH continues to support those who wish to improve their skills in order to help their children, get or keep a job, or increase their sense of independence. ACE program will start in January 2007.
