THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2007 THE NEW TANNER 13 By Jason Vidler The Herbal Magic Atom BB Tanners ended their regular season play on a win streak which started with a tournament in Elora last weekend where they took the consolation crown. They opened the tour- nament against Lindsay, edging out the Muskies 5-2 in a solid game with Braidyn Vidler between the pipes. The Tanners came out flying and played with determination as Brad- ley Bollert achieved the hat trick and other goals came from the sticks of Quinn Harding and Michael Kri. Travis Baker, Jasson Lockyer, Angus Agnew and Kendra Vandereyken all as- sisted in the win. The second game, played on the Saturday AM, was against the home town squad Elora. The Lightning have had the Tanners number all season and again proved to be a tough opponent in a close game, defeating the Tanners 4-3. The Acton squad faced Ingersoll in the PM on Satur- day and with the tournament finals in mind, played a precision game, defeating their opponents 10-1. Goal scorers were plentiful in this game including a hat trick achieved by Jake Corpe. They also had some nice help from Dylan Schouten, Aaron Stone, Ian Thomp- son and Connor Jean who not only assisted on the plays but also played a very physical game. The win brought Acton into the consolation finals against Smithville. Joe Romhanyi played with de- termination in the nets in a very close game which the Tanners won for the conso- lation title. Calmed the Storm Monday night saw the Tanners play the Guelph Storm in regular season play. They continued their momentum and calmed the Storm by winning 5-1 in Guelph. They played again in Acton Wednesday night, their final season game against the top team in the league, Oakville. With continuous pressure and nice deking from Brodie Consolation winners at Elora/Acton Tournament MacFarlane mixed with excellent defensive work from Logan McNabb, Acton ended up tying the Rangers for the second time in the season, 4-4. The Tanners start the first round of OMHA playoffs this coming week against Dundas. As Mr. Schouten would say, Lets go Tanners!
