You will receive a 10 or 20 deposit per bottle, depending on the size of the bottle. This new program is another way to increase the amount of bottles being recycled. By returning bottles to The Beer Store you free up space in your Blue Box which means you'll have more room to recycle other materials around your home. Thank you for you participation. Currently about 68 per cent of wine and liquour bottles are diverted away from the landfill and are recycled through the Blue Box. The Ontario government expects that by the fifth year of the new deposit return program, an additional 80 million bottles will be recycled. For more information about the program or for a list of your nearest The Beer Store locations, please visit www.bagitback.ca. Please note: Halton Region will still collect and recycle LCBO containers placed in the Blue Box after February 5. ??????????????????? ??????????? ????????????? ???????? ????? ????????????? ???????? ????? ????????????? ???????? ????? ????????????? ???????? ????? ????????????? ???????? ????? ????????????? ???????? ????? ???????????????????????????????????? ????????? ?????????? ??????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????? ????? ??? ????? ????? ????? ????????????? ??????? ???? ?????? ?? ????????? ????? ??? ???? ???????? ????? ??? ????? ??????????? ????? ????? ??? ????????? ??? ?? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Acton badminton ace strikes Gold in Florida By Frances Niblock Power and endurance helped Actons John Hunter and his badminton partner capture Gold and Silver medals at the U.S. Open Senior mens badminton tournament in Florida ear- lier this month. Hunter and John Lee of Mississauga battled to Gold in the 40-plus category, with close wins over some of the best players for their age in the world. In the 45-plus category, Hunter/Lee ran out of steam and earned Silver. Hunter, 49, is a retired Chrysler engineer who works with his wifes cloth- ing sales businesses and plays badminton three times a week. He also coaches badmin- ton on Monday nights at Acton High School, sharing his badminton skills with students, two of whom won the mixed doubles gold at the provincial high school championships last year. Badminton has taken me all over the place and somebody took time to start me off, so I thought Id volunteer at the school, Hunter said. He began playing badmin- ton as a pre-teen and credits early, good coaching with giving him solid skills. He played through high school, university and at club level until taking eight years off when his children were young. In the Gold medal game in Florida, Hunter and Lee downed Pakistan and the United States to reach the final and face a team from Kitchener that they downed in three matches, 25-23, 21- 15 and 21-12. In the Silver medal game, Hunter said they ran out of steam and lost the final match 21-12. Hunter said there were players over 80 at the com- petition, something he likes to see as he plans to keep playing. It is a sport that you can actually play right until the end. Although Hunter said he can hit as hard as he could in his 20s, playing three times a week allows him a day off in between to recover. Hunter enjoys the competi- tions, but he said badminton is fun, win or lose. It is a very quick game, especially in doubles, its a lot of pounding the bird and I enjoy the aerobic workout. MEDAL WINNER: Actons John Hunter and his bad - minton partner earned Gold and Silver metals at a mens senior open championship in Florida in January. Frances Niblock photo
