Frances Niblock photo Three new Milton doctors Three new family physi- cians have opened practices in Milton, the Halton Physi- cian Recruitment Initiative announced this week. All three doctors are welcoming new patients. As of February 1, Dr. Dag- Ellams and Dr. Sandhu have opened practices at the Kelso Medical Clinic on Com- mercial Street, Milton, and Dr. A. Kamouna has joined the Urgent Care Clinic and Family Practice on Bronte Street South. The newly-arrived family physicians learned of op- portunities through Haltons Physician Recruitment Ini- tiative which was established in 2002 to address the physi- cian shortage in Halton. The initiative is a joint effort with representatives from the lo- cal municipalities of Halton Hills, Milton, Burlington and Oakville, local physicians and senior area hospital staff. Haltons Physician Recruiter expects that two more physi- cians will open practices in Milton this spring. With a total of five ad- ditional family physicians coming to Milton, the Town is no longer considered an underserviced community by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, said Angela Sugden Praysner, Haltons Physician Recruiter. However, we will be mak- ing a new application to the MOH to reflect that Miltons population has increased considerably since the last designation in 2003. 50 years of marriage stuck to their vows By Frances Niblock Forever was not an empty promise for Corry Stulp or George Vos when they wed on February 8, 1957. The strength of that prom- ise brought them a long and happy marriage, and it was celebrated with family and friends in Rockwood on Saturday, and again on Sun- day after services at Actons Bethel Christian Reformed Church. Both George and Corry were young teens when their parents immigrated to Canada in 1951 and 1949, settling in the Acton area. The couple met at a church youth group and dated for almost two years before marrying at the new Acton Christian Reformed Church; the group had met until then at Knox Presby- terian Church. Our basement was just done, so we were the first to be married. We didnt have a wedding party, we just walked in with Mom and Dad on both sides they signed the papers, Corry Vos said on Friday. In a day of failing mar- riages, Vos said their union lasted because they stuck to the promises and vows they made in front of God and friends. Thats the same advice Vos have her own three children and several granddaughters who have married. You make a promise and you gave to stick to your promise. We all have our fights, mind you. Nobody is perfect, but you stick to the promise you made and you work it out, Vos said, add- ing theyve been fortunate and are thankful. George and Corry Vos
