The first solo is in rec- ognition of her 11th place finish at the BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals in Pre-Novice Dance, which she skates with her partner Dylan Simpson. Her second solo is awarded for her per- formance just a week and a half after Nationals at the Western Ontario StarSkate Championships. With so little time to switch from dance to free skate Rebecca skated a great program to make the finals in the Junior Rebecca Nelles Silver Free Skate category, a result she was not expecting based on her training time. Eggstraordinary April Since April is the month of Easter, and eggs and Easter seem to be connected in most peoples minds, some mem- bers of Knox Presbyterian Church have come up with an idea to help the Mercy Childrens Center in Nairobi, Ke- nya a project to house and provide schooling for a large number of AIDS orphans. They are being asked to place a jar beside their refrigera- tor, and drop a dime in it every time they take out an egg. This was inspired by an E-Mail from Nairobi, where the children are being supplied with lunch every day, in many cases the only meal they will have. One thing which they especially enjoy is a boiled egg each day - a real treat! Anyone who would like to help Knox to help these chil- dren, can save their dimes, and bring them to Knox Church on Sunday, May 6, when they are dedicating all donations at a Mission Awareness Sunday at 10:30a.m. Its warming up... and you know what that means! Town building on fitness momentum The Town will not rest on its laurels or anything else as it builds on the momen- tum of the Active Halton Hills project to promote healthy lifestyles through physical activity. Faced with alarming statistics about health prob- lems related to growing obesity, the Town used a $23,500 provincial grant and $14,500 of Town mon- ey and in-kind services, to encourage people to be- come active. At Council recently, Re- gional Wards 3/4 Councillor Jane Fogal noted the suc- cess of the Walk the Hills campaign 2,000 people logged 20,000 hours of activity and asked what is next. Staff said they would build on the momentum of existing programs and apply for another Active Living grant. LET US WELCOME YOU!
