Local amateur as- tronomers Tim May and Brent Freeman are hosting Astronomy Day viewing opportunities at their ob- servatory. The observatory is a 14 X 12 structure that houses two large telescopes. On any clear night, the roof is simply rolled off and ob- serving can begin. Each year on Astronomy Day, astronomy clubs and individuals host educational events designed to bring the public closer to the universe. This year, Astronomy Day is being held on April 21. Saturn will be in prime position for observing. The rings are tilted favourably and the planet is high in the east at sunset. Astronomy day also boasts a partial moon, which favours fantas- tic views of craters and lunar mountain ridges. The Milky Way Observa- tory is located at Mayhaven Farms on the Fourth Line of Eramosa Township, just out- side the village of Rockwood (fire #5209). Everyone is welcome and the event will take place weather permit- ting with a rain/cloud date set for April 22. Viewing times will run from 8:30p.m. until 10p. m.
