One that gives you the flexibility you want, at competitive rates, that lets you enjoy your new home without having to change how you live. It all comes down to affordability. At TD Canada Trust, we offer low down payment options and no down payment options on a variety of mortgages at amortization periods of up to 40 years.1 Spreading your mortgage over a longer period of time lowers your payments to help you manage your budget. BRANCH NO. 197To the editor, The ducks are lovely, but Since December, 2005, we have been living in a new home in Rockwood. At the back of our property and six other homes runs a very large and deep drainage channel. Until we all can fence around our properties the situation is very unsafe as anybody has access to this large expanse of open water which is deep enough to pose a threat of drowning to small children. We have been trying to get our grading passed for many months and in spite of numerous phone calls and a visit to the land surveyors office we were not able to resolve this issue. Af- ter informing Councillor John Scott of the danger- ous situation he informed the township staff and they acted very speedily by informing the people con- cerned that they must rectify the problem. The channel was drained by the builder on Friday and is currently safe until it rains. There is much work to be done so that this chan- nel remains in a satisfactory condition. I am sure that Mr. Scott and Mr. Ken Gagnon, man- ager of public works for Guelph/Eramosa Township, will continue to monitor the situation but we would like to thank them both for act- ing so conscientiously and promptly to effect a change to this potentially dangerous situation. Sheila and Roy Yorke, Rockwood. Comrades, At the District B Spring Convention held last week- end in Hamilton, it was officially announced that Acton Branch 197 will be the hosts of the District B Fall Convention October 12 -14, 2007. This is a major under- taking, and Convention Chairman Kathleen Bevan will be looking for many volunteers to help with the preparations and the actual event. Immediately, we will be striking sub-commit- tees to manage all facets of the Convention prepara- tion. If you are interested in chairing a sub-committee, participating on a com- mittee or just need more information, please leave your name and number at the bar and Kathleen will get in touch with you. We are pleased to an- nounce that Comrade Dave Crook has accepted the appointment as Zone B7 Poppy Chairman, effective May 16/07, and we wish him well in this new En- deavour. You may be required to show your membership card or receipt as proof of current membership. Please do not forget to have it with you when you attend. The number of members who take advantage of the excellent dinner served on election night appears to be declining; is it because we are not informing you that our Ladies Auxiliary cater to this event? Check at the bar for tickets next time you are in the Branch. Speaking of catering, this Saturday afternoon you are afforded the opportunity to demonstrate your chili- making talents, bring your prize winning chili down anytime after 2p.m. and we will sample and judge it during the meat draw.
