Frances Niblock photos VOX POP Do you think that children on a school bus would be safer if they wore seatbelts? Lisa Hayward, Acton Tyler Transport school bus driver, mother of three who ride school buses daily. School buses are defi nite- ly safer without seatbelts. Who is going to adjust the seatbelts, and how are you going to keep the kids in the seatbeltsif the bus is in a rollover or accident, who is going to get all those kids off the bus? Peter Yake, Acton, Grade one daughter rides school bus. They say the buses are well built, but my concern is if they bounce around in there or roll over. I think seatbelts are a good idea. It makes sense everyone else wears seatbelts. Stacey Arbeiter, Lime- house, mother of two who ride school buses daily. I respect the safety is- sues of the operators who are worried about a fi re hazard (with restrained kids), but I think it is defi - nitely worth the time, the money and effort to have the seatbelts I think its imperative, actually. Michael Arbeiter, 13, Limehouse, rides a school bus for 40 minutes daily. I dont think its unsafe, but its not fully safe. I know they have some seat- belts at the front of some buses (for car seats and special needs riders), so maybe for smaller kids it would be good.
