Containers must be no larger than 125 L (27 imperial gallons) or 23 kg (50 lbs). Acceptable materials include yard and garden trimmings; pumpkins; fallen fruit from trees and tree trimmings. Grass clippings will not be collected with yard waste or garbage. Please grasscycle by leaving grass clippings on your lawn. Brush must be tied in bundles no larger than 1.2 m (4 ft) by 0.6 m (2 ft) wide, with branches a maximum of 7.5 cm (3 inches in diameter). Yard Waste Draft Halton Water Efficiency Master Plan Phase 1 Practices & Options Review We want to hear from you about water efficiency. Residents are invited to attend one of four Public Information Centres Halton Region is conducting to present progress under Phase 1 of the draft Halton Water Efficiency Master Plan. The surveillance is limited to those in urban areas that are on public lands in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville. When mosquito larvae are found, the Health Department uses larvicide to control the larvae in order to reduce the incidence of West Nile virus in Halton. Larvicide will be applied by a licensed applicator contracted by the Region. In Standing Water Throughout the summer, larvicide will be applied to standing water sites under the direction of the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Bob Nosal. A granular formulation of the larvicide Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis), Aquabac 200G, registration number 26863, will be placed in affected standing water in urban areas on public lands in Burl- ington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville. Signs will be posted at each location indicat- ing when the larvicide was applied. In Catch Basins Throughout the summer and through to October 31, 2007, larvicide will be applied to catch basins under the direction of the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Bob Nosal. A pellet and/or briquet formulation of the larvicide methoprene (Altocid), registration number 21809 for pellet formulation, 27694 for briquet formulation, will be placed in catch basins in urban areas on public lands in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville.
