Dina Peacock, Georgetown parent Its shocking. Dont the par- ents know what their kids are doing? Im just amazed that something like this could go on so close to home. Lisa Glover, Acton parent I am horrified, actually. Thats the Internet for you, and where are his parents. Everything is now too easily accessible on the Web and par- ents have to know what their kids are doing. Albert House, Acton parent These children should be spending more time with their school books and learning things that are important and the parents should be doing a little more supervision so things like this dont happen. Mike Griffi ths, Acton parent The things he made the guns out of I was kind of shocked that they are so readily avail- able in the hardware stores. Im sure you can get instruc- tions on the Internet. What if he hadnt been caught? Its scary. VOX POP By Frances Niblock The Acton varsity girls soccer team battles for the Halton AA championship in Milton today (Thursday) against St. Thomas Aqui- nas. The Acton Bearcats earned a berth in the fi nal with a 2-1 win on penalty kicks in the semi-fi nal playoff match last Wednesday. Sarah Glassford put the Bearcats on the board with a free kick in regular time, and Pearson tied it up late in the second half, sending the game into two 10-minute overtimes. Both teams were score- less, so it went into penalty shots, and we won, teacher and coach Lisa Zazzara said on Friday, adding Julia Soderholm had the decid- ing goal. Kirstin Lowe was also a key play-maker. Our goal- keeper Nicole Pitre got injured on a bad tackle by a Pearson player who was carded for it, so we sent Joanie Weaver into net and Acton girls team team moves to varsity fi nal she made two amazing saves on penalty shots to make us win, Zazzara said, adding the defence and offence played smart and hard. The Bearcats earned a bye to the Halton fi nal with their second place fi nish in the Division, which advanced them to GHAC (Golden Horseshoe Athletic Confer- ence) where they lost to Hamiltons Bishop Tonas. Zazzara said at the begin- ning of the season some people questioned why some rep players were cut but said they chose the team based on what they saw at tryouts. Obviously, things have worked put well because what they showed us at tryouts they brought to the fi eld. The team gelled well, they communicate, they are dedicated and put in the ef- fort, Zazzara said, adding shes not worried about fac- ing Aquinas, a team made up of almost all rep players, be- cause the Bearcats have so much heart and energy.
