Going into the Monday game against Hillsburgh, the boys were carrying a season starting two-game unbeaten streak against an impressive or- ange-clad HEADS team. The ding-dong battle was punctuated by whoops of delight and the gnashing teeth and guttural moans of disappointment on both sides, but when all was said and done and the goals were tallied up, Acton won by a score of 8-6. The orange HEADS team had two team mem- bers responsible for all their scoring, while the multi-tal- ented Acton boys spread the scoring much more widely. Brett Banks capped a com- manding display with three goals, the ever-dangerous Cody McLeod with two, and single strikes from Alex Cardoso, Luke Otten, and the prolific Eric MacCallum. The pressure of carry- ing their three game streak proved too much when the Otten boys traveled to Eden Mills to play Rockwood. This was the tie that was cancelled due to a huge sum- mer storm a few weeks ago. The first half of the match was most memorable for an athletic goal-keeping display by the commanding figure of Luke Otten. In the second half the Rockwood team was rejuve- nated and seemed powered by a superhuman need to win at home, and first leveled the game at 3-3, and then pushed harder to win 5-3. The Ot- ten goalscoring consisted of three well-taken goals by Brett Banks, Alex Cardoso, and Mikey Watson. While the boys are sad to see their unbeaten streak stopped at three games, there is still plenty of season to construct another, possibly even more glorious.
