ACTON Proud member of the Canadian Jiu Jitsu Association (519)853-2424 Gain Respect, Self Confidence, Self Defense, Fitness & Fun Chris Lawson, Acton Family events would be great maybe plays for the kids and different types of entertainment. Music and theatre would bring us to the park. What type of entertainment would you like to see offered at the new Rotary bandshell in Prospect Park? Lisa Busby, newer Acton resident, not aware of bandshell I think it would be nice to have bands, different types of music for people to enjoy everything from garage bands for the kids to jazz or anything, really. Steve Ross, newer Acton resident, not aware of bandshell Id like to see variety theres different ages and youd need to cover it all. Youd need certain nights for the younger crowd. Alison McCallum, Acton I think they should have an evening of music in the park like they do in Os- hawa where I grew up. Everybody comes out to see whatever kind of music is being played it becomes a place to socialize. VOX POP GOOD GOLF: A record number of golfers teed up on Monday for the 7th annual mayors golf tournament to benefit Heritage Halton Hills. Frances Niblock photo The Acton High School varsity soccer team was blanked 5-0 by St. Thomas Aquinas last Thursday and eliminated from the AA Halton final. The other team was all rep players, and although we held our own for the first half, allowing just one goal, we ran out of steam in the second (half), said coach and teacher Lisa Zazzara. The team played really well our goalie, Nicole Pitre, was injured again, so Joanie Weaver filled in and did really well, Zazzara said on Monday, adding they had some breaks and some good shots off the cross bar, but nothing went in. Im so proud of the team we were second in the Division. A 40-year-old Acton woman fell or jumped from a moving van in Georgetown to escape the driver, who was arrested in Acton 90 minutes later and charged with forc- ible confinement and uttering death threats. Students who defied the odds and passed, those who helped others pass and those who made life easier and interesting were honoured by their teachers at an Acton Achievers breakfast at Acton High School. An 18-year-old Acton boy walking on Mill Street is the latest victim of a vicious pit bull terrier that has bitten at least four people, charged at another and attacked another dog. Local politicians tell Town bylaw enforcement staff to make it a priority to get that vicious dog off the streets of Acton after several people complain the streets are not safe.
