Phone 519- 853-5014 to sign up An 18-year-old Kingham Road male was arrested last Thursday night in connec- tion with the June 30 assault of a 17-year-old Acton male who suffered broken and chipped teeth in the attack. Police said the suspect was charged with assault causing bodily harm as he was stopped while driv- ing in Acton on Thursday night. Police said the assault occurred in the Duby Road/ Kingham Road area when the accused got out of his car and punched the vic- tim, who was walking in the area, several times in the face. The victim was able to partially identify his at- tacker. Police would not say what led to the attack. B&E A cash box was stolen and phone and FAX lines cut during a weekend break-in at The New Tanner offices on Queen Street. The thief jimmied the lock in the rear door to get into the office, which was searched, resulting in the theft of the petty cash. Business next door at the Source was also affected because its telephone lines were also cut, allowing only cash sales until repairs could be made late on Tuesday. No permit Smoke from a backyard burn drew Acton firefighters to a Cook Street residence at 2:36 on Sunday afternoon where they extinguished an 18-year-old arrested for assaulting 17-year-old male unauthorized fire. Illegal burn Acton crews extinguished a small fire in the backyard of a house on Main Street South at 10:24 on Monday night. The property owner did not have a required burn permit. Freezer smell An unknown odor re- ported in the Sobeys store at 3 a.m. last Thursday, turned out to be from a freezer that had failed and was thawing. Halton Regional Police are investigating a suspi- cious fire in Acton. Shortly before 4 a.m. on June 17. Police and Halton Hills Fire Depart- ment responded to a truck fire on Sixth Line. Upon arrival, the fire department found the truck to be fully engulfed in flames. Arson is suspected. The truck had been parked on the side of the road and was listed For Sale at the time of the fire. Total loss is not yet known.
