N ACTON 519-853-1970 to 10 camp, Duncan said. For 10 to 14 year olds who like water, the outdoors and adventure, there are still openings in the Outdoor Adventure program being offered in Acton from August 20 to 24 at the Boat House. That program offers canoe instruction, rock climbing and an overnight camping trip at Kelso Conservation Area. Duncan said the Sum- mer Fun Centre was created for kids who would like to try a little of everything at camp some crafts, sports, games, themes weeks and weekly bus trips. Each camp offers a mix of the favorites, and spaces are available in each of the camps, based at the Acton arena/community centre. Space is available for camps beginning July 30, August 3, 13 and 20. Jeff Birrell, the Acton camp site supervisor, said the em- phasis at the Tiny Tykes Sports Camp for four to seven year olds is fun and good sportsmanship. We focus on skill develop- ment, not the score, Birrell said on Monday, adding they have two very skilled instruc- tors for the Soccer Camp that begins on Monday at McKen- zie-Smith Bennett. For the younger crowd three to six there is space available in two programs Play ABCs and Water Wig- glers, both run at the Prospect Park Boathouse. Birrell said another popular program that has openings is Just The Guys, offered August 7 to 10 at the arena/commu- nity centre. That program involves learning a lot of leadership skills and team building, but we do it in a fun way, geared towards the 11 to 15 year old group, Birrell said. Each of the programs ex- cept Tiny Tykes includes a swimming component, and the Play ABCs and Water Wigglers programs include a half-hour daily swimming les- son. Several programs include off-site trips. Camp registration can be done online, by telephone, in person, by fax, or by mail. Completed forms may be left at the Civic Centre or Acton arena/community centre. To check for space availabil- ity, call the program hotline at 905-873-2601 ext. 2275. of services in all sectors has not kept up with Haltons unprecedented growth.
