With Trillium Foundation grant money ($75,000 a year for three years) running out in March, and other sources of money exhausted, POSSE offi cials recently approached Haltons Health and Social Services committee asking for money to continue delivering training and peer-based outreach, support and referrals to youth in North Halton. From its Acton offi ce, POSSE helps local youth deal with sexually transmit- ted diseases, harm reduction, human rights, discrimination, and support and crisis intervention. POSSE Project also supplies drug users with safer crack kits, needles, con- doms and safer piercing kits to prevent the spread of disease. When POSSE official approached Halton in April, Health and Social Ser- vices staff suggested the Region could advocate collaboratively with POSSE Project to source out alternate funding By: Angela Tyler Following several days of anticipation and concern among older Actonians about the missing drinking fountain do- nated by the Womens Institute in 1921, The New Tanner was back in touch with property owner Mike Caputo. As promised, Mr. Caputo tracked down the historic item. Thursday morn- ing, The New Tanner went to 41 Church Street in Acton where Mr. Caputo is renovating another local property. In the yard stood the drinking fountain. The fountain is now painted a golden bronze colour instead of its original white. However, the bronze plaque that adorns the fountain, which states who and when the fountain was donated to the people of Acton, is still there and faintly visible.
