Regards, Don Delgado Drug Rehab Resource Rural residents who rely on wells for their water may get a visit from a student hired by Halton to promote water testing this summer as phase two of a program to promote safe drinking water. A study of private ground- water supplies last summer found that 54 per cent of rural resident had never sampled their own well sup- ply. Halton recommends wells be tested for bacteria three times per year. Phase two of the study is to re-test the wells that were sampled last year, and to promote well water testing by visiting up to another 350 rural residents to explain how the Regions well water sampling program works. There are approximately 750 privately owned wells in Halton, and while the owners are responsible for maintain- ing them, Halton helps make sure the water is safe by of- fering free testing. A survey also found that the number of water samples taken by homeowners in Halton decreased from 7,000 samples in 2004 to 4,000 in 2006 and 37 per cent of the wells tested had bacteria contamination. Program to test rural wells Four vehicles collide on Hwy 25 Monday morning DOUBLE WHAMMY: Monday morning, Regional Rd 25(formerly Hwy 25) was closed just south of Wellington Rd. 24 (formerly Hwy 24) with a four vehicle collision. A Chevy Suburban hauling a trailer crossed the centre line clipping a tractor-trailer and then ended up in the brush. Two other vehicles, trying to avoid the collision also ended up in the ditch.
