There are two buses of Seniors from the Acton and Georgetown Centres going to the Niagara Casino in early September. (My daugh- ter in law says between the golfing and the Centre I am never home, and I think shes right). Betty Green tells me the last trip the travel club ar- ranged was to the Jackson Point area, where they had a guided tour of the Sharon Temple, (in Sharon) known as the Temple of the Chil- dren of Peace. After tea and cookies they had lunch at the famous Briars resort. Betty said It was fabulous. On the way home they stopped off at Baldwin to visit the Blue Wil- low Butterfly Conservatory. The plants and flowers have been planted especially to at- tract the butterflies, and you could purchase plants if you wished. They also visited the local farmers market. Local products are better for the economy, community, envi- ronment and health, Chong said. Chong thanked the town- ship for its support of his staff in addressing recent rural mail delivery issues. Canada Post workers had refused delivery to some boxes based on safety. He said that this riding received the highest pass rate in the country for suitability of rural mailboxes, and he hopes to put the whole is- sue behind us. White thanked Chong for coming, highlighting the importance of reaching out to all levels of government and other partners, saying, COMRIF and the Gas Tax do matter. Having five to seven years funding is better than none. However, it would be nice to have a non-application system. We appreciate your support in reducing growth pressures from Places to Grow and we are with you on enhancing the rail system rather than adding a 400 highway. Mike Chong...
