Soon, Lynch had unknowingly saved the day as they say. As he looked down he discovered the memorial plaque to Max MacSween in the creek. It was stolen at the beginning of the month and all efforts to fi nd it were futile. Lynchs discovery, although slightly worse from wear from being in the water was sent to Bowden Bronze for some rebuffi ng so it could be reinstalled. Monday morning, of this week the plaque was re- installed in what Mayor Rick Bonnette described as a re-dedication to Max. Maxs widow, Diane, and daughter Cathy were joined by members of the Acton Horticultural Society and, of course, Matt Lynch for the ceremony. We are pleased that the plaque has been found. It was worth around $700. But that is not the point. It is worth much more than that to anybody who knew Max .It was a symbol of a man who had been such an inspiration to our commu- nity. I hope the culprits feel some remorse for what they infl icted on the MacSween family, the Acton Horticul- tural Society and anyone who knew Max MacSween, aid the mayor following the ceremony. Mike Russell stated Bar- ing any unforeseen conditions such as rain delays or con- struction site complications the sewer main line will be complete by end of day Friday, August 24 and at that time all the large pipes and pumps will be removed from the site. Once the main sewer line is replaced construction will begin on replacing the main water line between Church Street and Knox Avenue. This process should move quickly as the trench will only be half as deep as the sewer line. During this time there will be temporary water interruptions and notice will be given to businesses and residents in advance of the interruption. Once the water line is replaced construction will move towards Vimy Street while the new water line is chlorinated and fl ushed and then a series of water samples will be taken and tested for water quality. This procedure will take approximately six working days; once the water samples come back clean construction will begin to hook up the new services to Maxs memorial plaque recovered, reinstalled in Monday ceremony Problems, problems, problems Continued on page 3 Main St. work 2 weeks behind During an Acton BIA Board meeting on Wednesday, August 22, discussions were held regarding the road reconstruction on Main Street. LUNAR ECLIPSE:New Tanner staffer Danielle McIsaac got up before 5am Tuesday morning to see the full lunar eclipse and record the sequence on her digital lens. She says the full eclipse took and hour from the fi rst shadow on the moon until it was in complete darkness. Eclipses once were considered omens of bad things to come. Now we know it happens when the moon enters the earths shadow. Next full lunar eclipse visible in our area is in February 2008.- Danielle McIsaac photos
