BRANCH NO. 197 Comrades, The Branch mourns the passing of George Poulsen, our comrade. George passed away suddenly in hospital on September 1. Following visitation on Monday Sept 3 a funeral service was held at J.S. Jones & Son Fu- neral Home, Georgetown on Tuesday, Sept. 4 followed by a reception at Branch 197. Our deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Susan and her family at this most distressing time. At the going down of the Sun And in the morning We will remember them. This coming weekend will be a busy time at the Branch. On Saturday the Legion Masters golfers will gather after their tournament for their supper and awards presentation. This is another event that would not work without a host of unsung heroes, the volunteers. The Branch and Ladies Auxiliary are hosting the annual visit of the Sunny- brook Veterans this Sunday, Sept 9. All members are in- vited to come and welcome our guests. The Branch will be open from noon until 6pm. Finally on Monday Sep- tember10 at 8pm we have the Branch general meet- ing. If you have visited the Branch in the last month you cannot fail to have no- ticed the ongoing facelift, and upgrades; there is still much more work planned, and your help will always be welcomed by mainte- nance chairman George DeRabbie. Keeneyed members will have noticed the one ton rock we have planted at the Branch. It was donated by Dufferin Aggregates, and delivered courtesy of Nellis Construction. Our thanks to Barry Dempsey and Rae Nellis. What is it for? Attend the next general meeting to find out. A sincere thanks go to Royal Jug Citys Steve McLeod for donating a rod and reel to the 1st an- nual Gary Mundy Fishing Tournament. The prize was much appreciated! Sports: This Saturday, our team of Teresa Uiterwyk and Keith Andrews will be go- ing to Smith Falls to take on the best horseshoe players in Ontario for Provincial bragging rights. We wish them well. The Acton Ladies Dart League is s tar t ing up shortly: come on down on Wednesday Sept 12 to sign-up. League play starts on Sept 19 through to April. Ladies, this is a fun league and all are welcome.
